    Default computer wont start up.

So I was watching a you tube video when my comp froze. I reset it but it would get so far through the start up process then freeze.
There is nothing happening now though. It won't allow me to BIOS or anything my tv just says no signal.
There's power to the case and I'm pretty certain my hard drives are ok.
I tried taking the cmos battery out and unplugging but still can't get to BIOS. I've taken out all usb devices and disconnected all my hard drives and dvd drive and tried to start it but still no luck.
I just think its had it.
does anyone know whether a new motherboard would fix it or what may have caused the problem and how I can sort it?

sounds like a power surge, and could be either /or/ mobo/ cpu...

I was looking to upgrade so might get a new motherboard and chip.
I'll have a look and see what's about or maybe see if I can find some spares and repairs cheap on eBay for a quick fix. If it was the CPU that had gone wouldn't it still enter BIOS?

I would agree with "Cod3waX " and take your ram out and try to boot, similar thing happend to me and the ram was the culprit.

Buy a can of replacement smoke to top up the PSU, cause a mate of mine told me that his PSU stopped working when the smoke escaped from it..

The power supply is probably the problem

I had a similar problem after the major updates from Windows... could not get into the BIOS stage.

Pressed/reseated all connections to motherboard/hardrive/memory, etc, and it came back to life. Don't know if that helps.

But to answer your question; if the CPU went bad you will not gain access to the BIOS.

sorry it's taken a while to get back on here. quite difficult when I don't have a comp .
I have power, If the dvd drive is plugged in with a disc in it fires up so I don't think its the psu.
I've taken everything out just leaving the cpu and nothing.
When I get the money I think I'm going to get an AMD llano 3870k and an Asus F1A75-m pro motherboard.
Will cost close to ?200 but will hopefully last my needs for a good while.
