Any child with half a brain could get around such a block in about 5 seconds if they so choose. DNS is NOT the correct place to be attempting parental blocks.

Remember that DNS is simply a name lookup system. You can bypass it altogether simply by using a sites IP address rather than its name.

Generally speaking, you wont block tech-savvy kids from viewing any site they wish no matter what you try. The only way to accomplish what you want is to effectively completely disable internet access altogether.

Quite a few modern routers will have some sort of device blocking mechanism built-in. You can set this from the router's interface page.

....and any kid with an ounce of savvy knows how to use a proxy or even a vpn to get around such bars.

You have to remember that large chunks of the internet are now specifically designed to disseminate information in countries that may be trying to block access to certain sites. If sovereign states cant manage to block stuff from determined citizens then what chance does an individual have against some of the most tech-savvy members of the population (kids) ?

There's really only one way to stop kids from accessing stuff you dont want them to see. Thats to allow access only whilst under supervision

I mis-read the OP question slightly wrong. My solution would work for a home internet connection (MAC address filtering) and of course, not if the device is connected to any other network.
