Hi people,
Two problems, probably the same cause.
Problem one:
Windows refuses to give me the correct resoluton settings for my new monitor. On the list of resolutions the one at the top (4k) says recommended, but it will not stay and reverts back to low end hd signal 1024x768. Also the refresh rate is stuck at 60hz and my monitor is capable of 240 hz. This also keeps changing back to 60 when i try to change it. The resolution settings tab seems to be greyed out as well.
Problem two:
The external new monitor will not stay on at the same time as the internal. I have tried extend and duplicate and the other options but nothing. I have to close the laptop lid and then the external monitor comes on.

System setup:
Laptop MSI Katana GF76 UE. As is when bought, no upgrades or modifications.
Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 graphics card.
Samsung Odysey G8 external monitor connected to laptop via HDMI 2.1 port.

I have spent hours googling this and i have tried everything i have found. Updated all drivers, rebooted everything, looked at graphics card settings as well as windows and although the setting i want are there, it just reverts straight back to the low definition. Something which i cannot seem to find it changing my resolution settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
