Vectra C CIM problem

Hello!

I have Vectra C, make year 2003, 3.0 CDTi (V6) diesel, non starter.

Diagnostics shows only 1 error - in CIM module:

B3601 - Key Capture Relay Circuit Malfunction


Now, as far as I know, this modules are prone to errors ... however, the CIM I have is made by Delphi and looks like this:

There are no 2J74Y motorola MCU's inside ... so - which component is the one to blame here? Maybe some bad cold solder points?


I came across another problem while I was removing the indicator stalk with CIM module ... the ignition lock has some kind of a "plug", which is colored red at the end ... I removed it to check what is was (it has 2 electrical pins inside) and then I plugged it back. This time it went deeper inside and now it won't go out anymore ... what is this? Is this some anti-stealing electronic component? How to get it out? See the pic. Thanks!

it was the key

if owner got 2 keys try other key

I already started it with same key before ... however, the problem is intermittent.

What about that "plug" ... does anyone know something about it?

Opcom says everything is OK - transpoder programmed & identified.

I resoldered the CIM board and put everything back together ... there are no fault codes on car, however, it does not start.

I think there's definitely something wrong with that "plug" on the CIM module ... I will try to drill it out or something ...

Managet to get the "plug" out of CIM without drilling ... you just have to press it on one side and pull it out.

That "plug" throws the initial error -

if you pull it out. I put it back in and I can delete the fault without problems. So CIM is not the faulty component.

However, the car does not start. Engine speed sensor is OK, fuel rail pressure seems to be OK (checked while cranking with OP-COM) ... what could be the problem?

Does this thing have low pressure fuel pump ... I can't see in on Autodata wiring.

you would have poor fuel presure reading if the low presure fuel delivery was not working (if its got one).

If its been intermitant starting, check the cam sensor too.

Check ignition main circuits relay, remove and bridge pins 30 & 87.

Make sure EGR valve not stuck wide open.

I have same problem with both keys. Car start with both. Once cleared it come again after start. And opcom shows, since last start passed.
