    Default DM800 HD clone dead....

    hi guys
having a look about most seem to still have ethernet lights !

    my dm800 has died
    nothign at all
what i have noticed is the led on the psu flickers when i plug it into the DM800 !!!
also a buzzing noise form the dm800 internals when power is applied
ethernet lights flick on for a point of a second then go out and the psu is tripping ?!?!?

any ideas what could be teh problem here
im ok going down to surface mount testing if any1 can point me in the right direction

i believe ther eis a few diff models of this board so any and all help will be greatly apreciated

here is a pic of the bottom and top of my board

    thanks

are you sure the psu is ok and it's sending power to the box ?
do you have anouther one to try to see if thats the problem ?
i keep a old router power plug convert to 12v that has the same
end on it as the psu so it plugs in the dreambox
iv'e had a couple of clone 800's that have died but both
had both light at the ethernet light on but with the new sunray
800hd at about ?130 from uk dealers if it is the mainboard then
at about ?90 i think a new box is the best way to go

why would you buy a new box if the psu is faulty
when a new psu is very cheap to replace. i would
only replace the box if the mainboard has gone bang,

    Guys thanks for the tips
I powered the board up on the bench with my bench psu

    It fired up ok

Strange cos the psu is giving out 12v when i tested it

So have to have a peek on ebay for a replacement psu

The PSU supplied with the box AFAIK is a 12v 3A supply, I personally therefore wouldn't go for something with a lower rating but you can use a higher rating, so a 4A or 5A supply would also do.
