    Default Ordered 500c

I've taken the plunge and ordered a 500c from satsun.biz today at 23:00hrs. I emailed the shop and they promised 200 in stock and same or next day despatch + mark the box no value commercial sample etc. So I will update the thread when it arrives (if it arrives )

I ordered a blackbox 500c from DVBMONKEY.COM 28th December '08. After many emails without reply i'm now chasing the money back through Nochex, failing that it'll be Mastercard, so not worried just gutted it didn't come. Is there is list somewhere of recommended sites? Just wanna move on from my Starview 1 Clone

Wish their was it would make the whole thing easier. the problem is if the forum recomends someone and it goes tits up they all look like muppets. I just read lots and lots of threads and got the general impression that satbiz had been ok recently. The main problem lies when suppliers tell fibs about stock. I emailed Sat sun and said if you have them in stock I will order now if you lie to me I will cancel the order and get a refund if not despatched in 3 days. They confirmed they had a good stock and they have despatched a something to me. Now I will report back on quality when it arrives but I live in hope.

Arrived this morning so less than 7 days delivery and all looks in good order. The tuner is the NXB? Phillips one (well that is what is stamped on the metal housing but knowing the Chinese electronics industry it may not be. The funny thing is the power supply is stamped samsung but I guess that is a knock off too. SO now I will not only be a cable knock off Nigel but a power supply knock of Nigel and a dreambox knock of Nigel. This must be the most dishonest thing I have ever done

the board is a green one and I have already had the top off for a look. In my opinion from a little time spent studying electrical electronic engineering in my youth the standard of construction is high. There are no loose parts and the circuit board is of good construction. The tuner looks fine and is stamped with the philips branding NXP etc and is securely mounted to the circuit board. To be honest you couldn't hope for any better given it was ?75.06 delivered to my door in 6 days. I just wish the pound to dollar was better, if I had bought this 6 months ago it would have cost about ?50.

I have now uploaded the image via telnet and copied the keys etc and it all seems to work. It hasn't found some channels, namely the sky sports ones so I will do a rescan and see what happens

Doesn't matter the transformer automatically adjusts from 110v - 230v

Did a whole UK brute force scan and that found everything. I have arranged my bouquets and all is good. i have even managed to remote view using dreambox viewer, it's a bit clunky but it does the job ok I guess.

Now what impresses me most is the fact the the box itself works very quickly and changes channels much quicker than my V + box. makes you wonder why Virgin ahve stuck with the crap they use.

makes you wonder why vm box's crash all the time........makes you wonder why they have no security on there modems..........makes you wonder how they managed to train monkeys to wear uniforms and install fiber optic cable.
