    Forget the signal strength, they are all wrong, if you remove the password and its not protected it will work, but you will get freezing now and again, it really depends on the router you use,
    best thing is buy a home plug ?35 and it perfect, the dongle just wont work properly.

    Yeah tried that firmware and no go with the aerial style dongle.

    I've had no problem with the dongle style without the aerial, didn't need to update the firmware either.

    Ok that's 2 people upto now who have the wi-fi working with the dongle without the aerial.

    I've set up 4 boxes with the unofficial skybox dongle with Ariel and it works fine with the latest software. I did however have issues connecting before I updated to the new software.

    Ermm! the plot thickens....I couldn't get the dongle with the aerial working no way no how with 4 boxes I tried hence why I came here for info.

    I reluctantly set my box up via rj45 from router to the F3 box. All worked sweet hard wired. I have a telephone socket (wall) at the rear of my tv and had the router hooked up to the F3 literally 2 feet apart.

    Anyway a m8 of mine has just been around and I was explaining the problem to him, I actually hooked up through wi-fi and went in wi fi manager etc to show him what happens i.e times out and also no signal strength etc....

    Well FFS! unbelievable Lo and behold the router and F3 found each other and connected no probs once I entered the network key of my router. I moved the router back to my hallway where the telco master socket is and still connects now no probs via wi-fi.

    I'm using the 3601HD firmware and the dongle with the aerial adaptor in pic 1 of my previous posts. That rules out the wi-fi dongles as the culprit/s!!

    All I did differently was try setting wi-fi up with the F3 and router 2 feet apart, previously they was seperated in different rooms by about 20 feet when I was trying previously.

    Arggg!! the trials and tribulations of computers, hardware, software etc....I want to scream the roof off the house at times it can get you so pissed off and frustrated haha.

    You have hit nail on head! Tried connecting USB wifi with Areial, no joy with 80 percent, moved box into same room connected fine. Then moved box downstairs all working fine.

    If you have USB with wifi Areial, make sure you connect nearby router then position skybox to where you want it.

    Hope this helps people

    I think the dongle was just winding you up mate, . I found that If sometimes the connection keeps time timing out, rebooting the skybox fixes the problem or just turning the skybox on standby and back on again fixes the problem. It even connects automatically with out having to put in the password although before reboot the connection was timing out.

    I tried all that umpteen times and more csclient m8...with 4 different wi fi dongles (aerial type) it wouldn't connect or find nothing on the network.

    Like I mentioned in a previous post, I had no probs setting wi fi with the dongle type without the aerial (pic 2 in previous posts)

    Anyway it's sorted now so all good

    ok i'm sick shit of these clone boxes ..... as are most folk ...

    1. put the box on a pay channel;
    2. press standby on the box { not tv }
    3. wait for reboot might take 3-4 mins
    4. it should be ok now
    5. get a good box not a clone of a clone of a clone
    6. ask maca

    try to assign it an ip on your network
