    Default Laptop Without Null Cable

    Hi Guys,

    I just noticed my laptop doesnt come with the 'Null' port.. the 9pin female port.. is there any other ways i can backup the configs in future?

    you can get a usb to null cable from maplins pc world etc and you might need a driver for it

    hmm apart from the usb-null is there any other methods I can use?

    dont think so mate but before you rush out to buy one wait to see if any of the dreambox owners (i take it thats what you have) have other ideas im a eurovox man so not clued up on them.if you dont get any replies post again this afternoon not many brains on line at the mo

    You dont need a null modem mate. Just use an ethernet cable and telnet and ftp to backup your image/alter or edit images. The red stickys have tutorials to guide you along.

    do u have a spare usb dongle/flashdrive handy to have it to download all relevant info into.if u know someone with a pc with xp and serial port and u have null modem cable that will hook up and use the dongle to run ur data from.

    go do it down your local library. I'm sure the pc's there will be ancient as well as the staff so no one will clock what your doing
