    Default router doesnt recognoze dreambox

    Hi guys
I have tried connecting dreambox 500c to my netgear WNR3500
but the light of the port doesnt come on for example if I connect it on the 2nd port, the light on 2 doesnt come on. I tried the sam cable on the same port using a laptop, the lights came on so i know there is nothing wrong with the cable or router.

Before it connected perfectly and i am not really sure if then the light came on or not

So it would be great if you guys can help me out

your router might have a firewall.

you can go into router settings and allow the IP address of your dreambox.

can you connect the dreambox directly to your PC ethernet port and see if the light comes on.

Also can you post your comunication settings from your Dreambox ?

Do you get a light on your dreambox port if you connect directly to your modem? Is it possible your dm500 ethernet port is faulty?

If you are talking about light on dreambox's network card then there is no light even when i connect it to the laptop.

it worked perfectly before, i dont know whats wrong with it now.

    1. I have set up the ip address of db as 192.168.1.3 (which worked perfectly before)
    2. the network gateway is my router's ip address
    (which worked perfectly before)
    3. the port number is 80 (before it was 21 and worked perfectly but now that doesnt work either)
    4. Nameserver, the same as gateway (which worked perfectly before)

Can u suggest anything if not then..

Can i connect it to the computer without router or the old fashioned cable (cant remember its name)

Try setting the network configuration on your dreambox to DHCP to see if it recieves an ip address from your router. I think it is possible that the network port on your dreambox is faulty. You will need a null modem cable to flash an image to your dreambox if the ethernet port is faulty.
