    Default Mercedes W169 Start Problem

    Hi Guys

I am in need of some tech input please. I have a W169 A170 MB with a intermittent start problem. Sometimes especially when it is cold ignition turns but engine does not crank. When i test with mb star in eis and live data for drive authorisation when it does not crank it says drive authorisation not sent. Start enable - No. Am i dealing with a faulty eis or ecu. There are no stored codes either so its making me run around a bit. Is dry joints in eis possible or common rather? Any ideas or tips to solve this will be greatly appreciated.

    SO COOL.

Perhaps, you could open the hood, stupid ecu under stupid cover beleive is the auto ECU.

Perhaps you could figure out if it drives the starter motor direct when cranking?

this is going to be one of them AWSOME threads that can be used in a pub quiz, great.

Pub Quiz i did check if the ecu drives the starter but i can see the same colour wire at the ecu. Does it change anywhere? I did strip the harness in front and inside under the carpet to trace it but no luck. Its a thick purple with white trace but i couldnt see it. Anyone knows in fact where it does go to. Under the battery is a fuse box had that out too still nothing.

In Relay and fuse box you have the K100Km (starter relay), feeded by fuse 21. Try jump from 30 to 87.

In left hand drive this K100 it's in battery compartment, under passenger seat/foot.
