Default Virgin Superhub & Belkin - slow speeds

Hi all, I have a VSH and a 60meg line. The SH wireless was useless in my house and I read it could be switched to modem only and another wireless hub could be added. I bought a Belkin F6D6230uk4 a double n wireless router, followed the online instructions to switch SH to modem then set up Belkin. everything seemed to be working great but out of curiousity i started doing speedtests. It was then I found I was lucky to be getting 20meg no matter what time of the day I tested it. I contacted V and while on the phone i disco'd the Belkin and switched SH back to router mode, lo and behold my speeds jumped up to 50-59 meg, put Belkin on and speed dropped, because Belkin wasnt supplied by V that was as far as he could go.

I've searched for help on this, is it a ropey Belkin or is there a setting i've missed/

    Help?

    Cheers in advance

Are you testing your speed using wifi or ethernet cable?

use Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed and see what you get.

I think speedtest is a hit and a miss tbh.

Virgin wont help you on anything other than their stuff.

When hub in MODEM Mode what is lan speed direct to laptop?

When belkin used what is LAN ?

When belkin is in what is WIFI

Is you laptop wifi g or a n as well?

Try updating the router. Make sure it's in n mode although that wouldn't explain lan shortfall.

Do you have another router from some one as a test.

Also does the WiFi drop on laptop when using the hub as router.

I had to buy a edimax micro wireless n adapter. To get my 30meg

I was on 10mb about two days ago so rang up and asked about the free upgrade we were promised for July. They said very sorry aout that and promised to double my speed so I moaned that my Virgin friend was getting 30mb so why I am only getting 20 and they said it was because my modem could only handle 20mb. I asked them to upgrade my modem as I was a customer of several years they said fine but it would cost me ?20 for delivery which said was too much for me. Virgin gave it free as long as I promised to be bound to a 12 month BB contract. I am well chuffed with 30mb and the superhub.

Ive had superhub for quite a while now, works fine, no issues... Its true that before the last firmware upgrade its reliability & performance was a bit shocking..

I guess a few people just end up with dodgey (faulty) ones with quirks and annoyances they put up with, or VM ignore as faulty and make customers put up with, thus them customers opnion of the superhub is that its shite..

I was reading the Virginmedia forums and everyone on there says the Superhub is complete crap. I have had the SH for a week and needed a reboot about 3 days ago because it hung completely but apart from that its been great getting 30mb. I have also hooked my old router upstairs to extend the reach of the SH.

I had a belkin for a few years and they're total crap imo. Everyday it froze and I had to reboot .... I couldn't even get utube videos to load and I was on 30mb. I got a virgin superhub and have had no problems since.
    I'd never buy belkin again

And i'm gonna smack my superhub with a hammer today.

Dont get me wrong, download speeds have never been the issues with it. Had to mess about for correct port forwarding with it, also now the R36 FW is out, my WDTV live streaming is jumpy, also as the wireless is so shite i fitted old router upstairs and the hub dunt like it, so needs a reboot once - twice a day

Oh an since the R36 FW my FTP Speeds have halved

What a load of ~~~~ing shite
