    Default e46 bmw m3

    hi guys,
i have a bit of a problem, my m3 is smg transmission and i get two codes that went on. can anyone explain what they mean?

    1-- selector-lever position L4(fault code 09)
    2-- CAN DME load singal(fault 99)

first code disappeared next day and now only second one.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

I read codes in BMW once with Bavarian Technic and it gave me transmission fault code. The car was in limp mode and warning was light on.
I couldn't find anything properly documented so I decided to re-read it with GT1 and read documentation.
I re-scanned it and the GT1 read the fault code as "Bonnet Switch open circuit" live data showed it was true and the repair fixed it.

Lesson .... ensure you read the "actual" fault codes and descriptions

if the code is right it means that the "calculated torque required" (load) data from the DME is not being received in the TCM. Either missing or corrupt.

oh! the bonnet switch was stopping the TCM working, probably because you shouldn't drive off with the bonnet open.
