I have a problem with a 550 kts
when I connected with a car he asked me to do a firmware update, I started the update but pc battery is discharged 50% of update
now kts comminuque not only with the PC and the LED does not blink, and when I plug in a external power LED flashes once and stop and remain extinguished
I came into Diagnostic Device Control / update / software I press update but the message to verify alimentaion ..... is displayed

Hello,

First, check if you have voltage on the KTS end of power connector. Check USB connector for broken/damaged pins on KTS
Second, restart the computer, there is some bug in some versions of software (when the computer sees no KTS, and suggests to add ext power supply, it sometimes does not see the hardware unit again until all processes have been restarted kts32, esi2.exe and rbsetup if i remember correctly)

I have no experience with 500 unit, but generally all those units can get damaged if the process of firmware update gets interrupted. Such situation, I have solved on one unit by flashing it to an earlier version firmware, and then re-flashing it to the current version. The particular unit was 520 and it helped, but I cannot guarantee that it will help your unit as well

I think it is damaged is that nobody can confirm me

Flash memory is damaged when update firmware is intrerupted.

As I have already said once, I have successively repaired one such problem by installing previous firmware version and then by installing the current one again, but I do not know is it the only way and I also do not know can you resolve your problem by doing the same as I did

Confirm external power connector.When you connect external power the plug disconnect power from obd connector.If you have bad contacts on this plug,you will have problems with comunication.
See carefully the internal circuit on k550,if the voltage on external power plug is the correct.

try to reinstall old version of Esi and make firm. update,I have same problem on a KTS 520 last year...that way work for me .Regards ....

if you have tried all the above with no luck you could open it up and desolder flash chip but you would need a programmer and the dump that esi2 was trying to flash. I know its easy to say after the event but when programming you should ensure you have stable voltage supply and hard wired to a mains powered pc or laptop, Failing that Bosch Tech are usually good tbh, i left my esi2 install disk in the drive of my laptop and marked it with rings while it had been spinning. Bosch got one out foc on next day.
