Default Please help I can't get this to work

    Hello,

The wii is my first venture into console modding. I first used letterbomb while I learned how to do it but in the end it wasn't correct as well as I knew how to do it. So I redid everything with modmii. I think it's all set up pretty much correct now. I have a bunch of apps and emulators working fine. One problem though that I have had since I started is that the loaders can't seem to connect to my HDD. It's a western digital 80g FAT32 formatted drive in a simple enclosure connected through usb of course. Every time I load up usb loader x or CFG my HDD read/write activity turns off. The loader lags as if it is trying to read the drive but then eventually times out. When it's plugged in an on the process of the loader is very long so I can tell it's trying to do something. Because when it's off/not pluuged in/plugged into the incorrect usb the loader times out very quickly. I have 2 games on the HDD via backup manager which seems to work great, backup manager that is. At this point I'm guessing it's a problem with an IOS(totally newb to this and still not sure what these even are) or the HDD isn't compatible even though others seem to be able to use similar HDDs. I have tried a lot of tutorials and troubleshooting guides but just can't figure it out. I ran syscheck from the wiibrew download and it crashes at the end, maybe because it's outdated? I downloaded and installed syscheck GX from the homebrew browser and it produced this.

    Welcome to DK.

I don't know why you have only found the sysCheck GX v1.0.0 I don't like GX because it doesn't show everything, just use the latest sysCheck v2.1.0 Beta 18

It looks ok apart from you don't have d2x v8 final wad pack installed.

You say you have a western digital 80g FAT32 formatted drive in a simple enclosure. Is that a mains powered enclosure?

I use WBFS Manager and it works perfect on every Wii I've softmodded just try it. If that works ok then it how the games have been added.

I see you've posted the same question on wiihacks.

I'm not sure what a mains powered means, it is powered by it's own adapter that you plug into a normal power outlet. It's in a "rocketfish" enclosure. Found the syscheck on homebrew browser. I wasn't really sure where to get the newest files/programs because I am so new to this. I pulled the drive out and it's says 2003. Also uses scsi...so I'm thinking it may be incompatible. I will test a different one as soon as I can. I installed the v8 shortly after my post. Whenever any loader is about to boot up the read/write light just turns off. Will test with the program you suggested and a new hd.

A mains powered drive is what its says it has a seperate power supply throught a convertor to probably 5v DC. These USB powered drives aren't really suitable as the read time slows it down because of the power needed, which I thought was happening to yours.

Not all external hard drives are compatible on Wii's unlike computers.

I've never heard of SCSI drives being used. If you have a large enough USB flash drive that will work just to test. I've had 4 wbfs games in a wbfs folder on a 4GB flash drive and they all worked. Iso files are generally 4.5GB so you would need a big flash drive for those.

Well I derped out and was looking at my drive for the compatibility guide. When my enclosure is the issue. It's listed as not working with usb loader and only works with cfg if you change the ios to mload=223. And when it does work like that it doesn't work for long. Gonna pick up another one today. Thanks for the help. Will repost after I get a new one.
