    Question Windows XP Activation HELP!!!

Hi, I recently re-installed Windows XP sp2 on a latitude d630. When it came time to activate the program Microsoft said that I exceeded the amount of times I could use my disk and gave me the option to add a new product number and I did this. They then stated that the time to use this new product number had exceeded the activation time limit and gave me the option to activate over the phone. I did this and the recording I talked to said that I was cleared for activation and gave me the necessary numbers to put into the activation box and I did this. The box informed me that I was now activated and to press OK and Finish. I did this and' low and behold, no personal settings came up. upon re-booting. I got a message at the Welcome page that I needed to complete the activation process, yes - no. I press yes and up comes the activation box that says "You are already activated. Press OK to exit" and I get the same results, the classic XP desktop but no personal start menu or personal settings. I tried Windows Restore in safe mode as well as all the other options available on the safe mode menu, and got the same results. I was clearly caught in a loop. I did a clean re-installation, ran every diagnostic I could find - which gave my computer a clean bill of health, scrutinized the BIOS for any security or other app that could possibly impede a good activation, I was good to go. I fallowed the same activation process with the phone call to Windows as before and once again got the same results - no personal settings, start menu, nothing. The third time reloaded XP using the repair mode with all my settings in place and I am at a loss as to how to activate the program. Twice bitten - third time shy. Is there anybody out there who has shared this dilemma? Or knows an alternative way to activate this program? Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Default

Never heard of this problem before

Try deleting all the partitions on the HDD first then put a fresh install of xp on. Whenever iv had problems in the past the deleting of the partition's has always sorted it.

You should be using windows 7 though as its a far better windows mate....
