    I'VE found this:::::::::

    Here is some information that may be of assistance to you. The Security Locking and Control Module is a programmable part: this cannot be done by you or by dealership personel with WDS or IDS, it is done at the factory. The V CATS sticker in your trunk shows the part number and programming suffix for your SLM. If you want to purchase a new module for about $700., you must order it through Jaguar so that a unit programmed to suit your car can be supplied. Similarly, if you are attempting to locate a used unit, you should verify the V CATS code from the donor car to insure correct fittment. The three digit programming suffix is NOT found on the SLM itself.

    Exactly what functions are determined by programming I do not know. It is possible that some or all functions will work if you use a module with a different programming code: the only way to be certain that you are not introducing variables is to obtain the properly programmed module. There is no difference between coupe and convertible modules: I have a customer who needs a LJA2600AF/006 for his '97 convertible, and that is the identical unit I can supply from a '97 coupe.

    The only other relevant information on this subject I can provide is something I noticed when I removed the unit I have in stock. The SLM is located under the fusebox in the boot, and has a short antenna lead to pick up signal from the remote transmitter. This antenna lead was a bit loose: It gave me cause to wonder if there isn't a car or two running around with transmitter malfunctions that is caused by a bad connection at this antenna.

    Please contact me off list if you are shopping for this module, I'll help if I can. Best wishes,
