Default Acquired a property with DM500s & motor dish.... advice needed please.

    Hi all,

Been floating round several forums for several years up until the Nagra 3 update killed my Starview!!

Never actually chatted to anyone just browsed around for updates on Starview however....

I have just taken over a pub which already has a Dreambox DM500s and a motorised dish. Both were working as I was able to pick up the FTA channels on SLYUK.

Here comes the problem. The box was installed by an installer to which I do not have the name or contact number for and he has used the parental lock to lock out the setup menus and also changed the password to something else other than dreambox so I couldn't even FTP into the box.

I have since flashed the box and put the latest OpenPLI image on it and to my knowledge is working fine (i think).

Since I was used to the Starview way of life of just scanning the cable, I have taken the easy option of using Catseye Enigma1 Settings 75 East-58 West (09/12/12) to get full services however I can't pick up any channels, not even the FTA.

I have since gone into the motor setup and pointed the dish to 28.2E (ASTRA - SLYUK) and I am not getting a lock or sync. I have then moved the dish using the remote control to west until I got a sinc and lock and hey presto FTA was back on. I have stored this position so I don't have to do this all the time.

If I try another channel which requires the dish to move to another sat I just get a message on screen saying "moving to 13e (or something)" dish will move and stop but message is still displayed so I can only presume the dish is off by a few degrees.

OK now I have a small knowledge of setting up SKY Dishes as I moved the one that SKY fitted on my house and used a Sat finder to relocate the dish and sat.

What I want to know is if I was to delete the stored 28.2e and then point the dish to the original 28.2e then using a sat finder re-align the motor so the dish is picking up 28.2e ASTRA sat would that re-align the rest of the sat's?

Also, (i'm not sure if this is allowed) but can anyone also recommend a good cccam cline site as I would like to show sports in the pub.

Thanks again (and sorry for the rather long story ha ha)

the best way to set your motor up is to set the dish to 1 degree west (thor) go into your usals settings and put your long/lat settings in and work from there. also your mount needs to be perfectly level and straight

You need to go into your motor settings, set for Diseqc motor and enter your lattitude and longitude. Reboot the box and you should be good to go.
