IMHO - a Windoze lappy with HDMI output is still the best bet. Flash/HTML5 streaming is still the most stable on W$

    Default Pivos Media center

I had one for over a year.
You can add a hard drive which I did.
And it is fine for storing videos to watch but the apps are almost useless.
Is the new android one better?

These raspberry pi are they easy to setup? Can they stream hd content?
Just got fibre router with usb slot. Got a usb drive in there and can read files on phones and laptop but Looking to connect upstairs tv to it. Already have a wireless keyboard and mouse so just need a cheap option

My honest opinion, NO. I sent it back after one day. Nothing would work through xbmc and the box kept crashing.

Got the raspberry pi and not had one issue with it yet.

I bought the kit that had everything in it. Was a bit more expensive but I couldnt be bothered ordering it online, so I bought it from a local shop.

As to putting the software on to the sd card, it was pretty easy. I just followed a tutorial on youtube and worked 1st time. I done it on a mac so I dont know if it is different on windows.

I originally had a Rikomagic MK802IV but had real issues with wifi reception so had a friend solder an external antenna to it... this resolved the issue but in the mean time I bought a Sky NOW TV box... ( basically a Roku streamer)..I side loaded the plex app to it then installed the server on my PC ...and not looked back since.... ( the MK802 is still in the drawer )

The Now TV box is a Tenner so if it did not work not too bad a foul..

Setting up Plex is easy dev mode (developer mode press Home 3x, Up 2x, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right sequence on the remote)

How to Install Plex on Now TV (UK) - YouTube

and as for windows just follow the prompts ....
