    Default Satellite meter with Diseqc

    Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations on a satellite meter which has the ability to move the dish without power from the receiver. Can anyone recommend any please? My budget is up to ?100 (new or 2nd hand). The cheaper the better, as I'm only probably going to use it a few times.

I'm just looking at testing my technomate motor and to properly align my dish.

My technomate TM-5500 receiver stopped being able to move the technomate motor a couple of years ago. I put it down to the cable, due to it working fine with a short 3 meter cable. The receiver broke a couple of weeks ago, and I installed a Dreambox 500s (I think it's a clone). The 500s doesn't move the motor even with a short 3 meter cable, but I cant rule out a seized or faulty motor. This is why I'd like a satellite meter. If there are any other options to move the dish with some sort of view of signal, please let me know.

dm500s boxs are known to have problems sometimes moving motors due to weak power supplies. get yourself a dm800 psu which is 3.0ah and has more power and its cheaper than a sat meter, regards mdt

Hi. Not familiar with DM's myself but regarding your motor what make is it?? Does it have a green light on and have you tried to move it manually??. In my opinion rather than waste money on a sat meter you would be better off just putting your receiver on a FTA channel and move the dish by hand until you get a picture on your tv and then tighten the dish up. Point is whether you have a sat meter or not you still have to move this dish to get a signal or picture. If you are anywhere near London i could have a look at the motor for you at no cost.

    Take care.

    Hi, thanks for the suggestions.

I'll keep an eye out for the 800 psu. None on ebay at the mo.

Doesn't have a light as far as I can tell. It's a technomate motor, not too sure of the model, will have to take a look at the weekend.

I've already moved it manually from hellas sat to hotbird, and tuned it in on the weekend. All is fine, but I'd quite like the option to be able to turn it automatically via the dreambox.

I 1st just wanted to know if the motor is faulty or if my dreambox clone is just rubbish and wont power the technomate. I thought maybe a 2nd hand Swires or Horizon meter might be useful in the long run, both to test the motor and to install a dish in my own home later in the year.

the motor should have a light, it will be green if its working or red if somethings up with it, but should have like a reset button on it, from what i remember off the top of my head

saj, I think it's a technomate TM-2300 IIRC. All I've seen is what look like 2 pin holes on the bottom, but that's about it. Will Have a proper look over the weekend.

mdt, I've bought a DM800 PSU which is 3A rather than 2A. I'll try it out when I receive it.

time for a new motor by the sound of it you can get a TM2300 for less than ?50 and I prefer them to the TM2600 they seem to suffer less backlash.

Sorry I should of said there's no actual physical light/led. So no indication of if it's working or not. I've ordered another receiver, So I'm going to check it again soon.

yeah I knew what you meant It must be a pretty old motor though so a new one wouldnt go amiss.actually you can get a TM2300 for less than ?40 from technomate direct.
