    Default Skybox F5 few issues.

    Hi,

Firstly im extremely impressed with this box, it is my first openbox so i have nothing to compare it with but i think its pretty sleek and fairly easy to setup.
If anyone could help with any issues they may have found a way around it would be greatly appreciated.
I understand that its a budget box and not to expect too much for the ?50 but i can try

    * When i plug the USB stick in the back i get significant lag on voice to picture when viewing HD channels, or it glitches every few seconds to catchup.

** Is there a better EPG to flash on anywhere that ive missed? Im not so fussed about the layout, but the fact that it does not auto populate and you have to switch onto the channel to load 1hour of the EPG (for that channel only) almost defeats the object of having one.

*** Is there a way to turn off the auto skipping channels when viewing the EPG. You cannot browse through channels to see whats on as every time you change which channel your hovering over it changes to it rather than having to click on it to change to that channel?

Thanks for anyone who reads and even more thanks if you have any workarounds for any of these issues!"

    Kind Regards,

A memory stick will be slow, use a hard disk instead..

No, Now&Next is the only EPG you will get from 28.2e satellite, thats how it is... For a full EPG you would need a much more expensive & capable satellite receiver..

No you cant, its like that because the box only has a single tuner, and as the box can only get the Now&Next EPG which is broadcast on the same frequency the channel is on, you need to be on that channel to see the EPG...

Hi iv just set my skybox F5 up and I'm over the moon with mine, the interface is better than the s11,EPG is an issue but simple to over come download sky app on your phone and you know what's on, for ?50 I can't fault the machine my dad had DM500 packed in twice second time it couldn't be fixed he paid over?300 so sometimes you don't get what you pay for,
So personally I would get any openbox or skybox over any ?300 plus boxes for ?50 they do exactly what it says on the tin with better picture than original sky+ boxes

I would agree with some of Craig 77's comments - for ?50 I think it's a very good buy. I also have a original VU+DUO though, and the old saying you get what you pay for has never been truer.....the experience is sadly like comparing a Rolls to a Ford Ka ....if you want a basic no frills box the f5 is great value but the VU gives you a much improved overall experience. I also have a 3 yr old dm500s which sadly isn't HD of course but is in many ways superior to the f5 - If it was HD I wouldn't have bought the f5 at all. You pays yer money.......
