Can anyone help me with the connectors on the examiner? Which one is used for diag for example, and how to connect it? I don't have a cable for it. I read there is a mpx97 adapter for diagnostics does anyone know or have a drawing of it's wiring by chance?

Ok here is a bit about the cables, you have a upgraded VCI card with VCI and CAN/EOBD see picture below,
in the pictures of the cables I have numbered the pins in accordance with how I've counted them, I've done
it this way in an attempt to avoid confusion on which pins at each end of cable that should be connected
    together.

VCI cable, Fiat 3 pin diagnostic connector it is also used to connect to the MPX97.

1/K is connected to pin 4 on the 15 pin connector on the other end of the cable.
2/GND is connected to pin 1 on the 15 pin connector on the other end of the cable.
3/L is connected to pin 2 on the 15 pin connector on the other end of the cable.

MPX97 is a manual switch/multiplexer with 12 positions that connects to the 16 pin OBD socket(not a real
OBD diagnostic socket) used on Fiat/Alfa/Lansia pre CAN/EOBD, Examiner diagnostic software tells you what
position number you should use to connect to the device you want to do diagnostic on, there are some
electronic stuff in the MPX97 when it requires power from the 16 pin OBD socket to function properly
but it will probably work equally well if you build a mechanical switch that connects to the correct pins.

pin 4 connects in all positions to pin 2/GND on the VCI cable (pin 1 on the 15 pin connector that connects to the Examiner).
pin 10 connects in all positions to pin 3/L on the VCI cable (pin 2 on the 15 pin connector that connects to the Examiner).

position 1 on MPX97 is connecting pin 8 to 1/K on the VCI cable (pin 4 on the 15 pin connector that connects to the Examiner).
position 2 on MPX97 is connecting pin 6 to 1/K on the VCI cable.
position 3 on MPX97 is connecting pin 2 to 1/K on the VCI cable.
position 4 on MPX97 is connecting pin 1 to 1/K on the VCI cable.
position 5 on MPX97 is connecting pin 16 to 1/K on the VCI cable.
position 6 on MPX97 is connecting pin 14 to 1/K on the VCI cable.
position 7 on MPX97 is connecting pin 13 to 1/K on the VCI cable.
position 8 on MPX97 is connecting pin 12 to 1/K on the VCI cable.
position 9 on MPX97 is NC.
position 10 on MPX97 is connecting pin 1,2,6,8,12,13,14,16 to 1/K on the VCI cable.
position 11 on MPX97 is NC.
position 12 on MPX97 is NC.

    CAN/EOBD :
pin 2 on the 16 pin OBD connector connects to pin 5 on the 15 pin connector that connects to the Examiner.
pin 4 on the 16 pin OBD connector connects to pin 8 on the 15 pin connector that connects to the Examiner.
pin 5 on the 16 pin OBD connector connects to pin 2 and 9 on the 15 pin connector that connects to the Examiner.
pin 9 on the 16 pin OBD connector connects to pin 1 on the 15 pin connector that connects to the Examiner.
pin 10 on the 16 pin OBD connector connects to pin 7 on the 15 pin connector that connects to the Examiner.

You also need a cable that connects to the battery of the car for the Examiner to function properly when doing
diagnostic, both + and - are protected with a 15A fuse.

If I remember correctly Examiner flash CD rel 5.6 is the last one, after rel 5.6 you have to use the net to get the files.

I'm not quite sure if I understand your question correctly but if are you refering to "(not a real OBD diagnostic socket)" I did not mean it physically, the OBD socket is a real one but have been differently connected inside compared with a normal OBD connector.

Thank you for the pictures Alfa GTV! Does anyone happen to have a wiring diagram for that eobd can connector zsoltmora posted the picture of?
Also does anyone have the flash cd for this old examiner? I looked around for them but all the download links seem to be dead.
    Thanks in advance.

I do not have any wiring diagram about the eobd can connector and can not exactly see what it is on the circuit board (without destroying it) because of all the glue, but it seems to be built around a Philips TJA1053 IC.

I think that v.1.6 maybe v.2.1 is the latest version of flash CD that you can use on the old Examiner.

Does any of you have an idea where can I get an eobd can cable? Is there a chance that it is for sale on some website somewhere?
