Default SKC from Audi A6 2002 TDI

I bought the car with 1 key fob, so i bought one from ebay (same type) and had a key blade cut.

I looked into programming this wih VCDS but apparently need a pin number, which I do not have.

Is there any way that this can be programmed without the code?

Or can anyone help extract the pin ?

I basically want to use a secondhand fob I bought from ebay. This has the immobiliser function as well as openning and closing the doors etc.

    Help appreciated...

You need the secret key code (skc) to pair the immobiliser transponder in your new key to the car. Once you have this you can use software such as vcds to perform the match.

You will need tools to retrieve the skc first however. This is stored in the instrument cluster and can be got at with things like vag tacho, etc etc.

    Thanks swegie, much appreciated.

vag tacho you say? I'll see how much the kit is.

Im going to pick up a cheap mpps clone, this apparently pulls ecu files - will this extract the right stuff?

What other tooks would work that i could look into?

    Thanks again

MPPS will pull the engine ECU flash, but not the serial eeprom from the instrument cluster, which is what you need. If you get hold of a cheap VCDS cable (like the blue $10 ones on ebay) you could probably find a copy of Vag commander 2.5 that will do what you need. I have used this software in the past with these cables to retrieve SKC's from Audis of that era.

    Cheers.

    Thanks again sweegie,

I have the 409.1 cable already (used for a fiat). I didnt realise that vag commander used that cable also. I'll give VC a whirl....

Once ive managed to connect (hopefully) with Vag Commander - will that provide the SKC or do I need another piece of S/W to extract it?

    cheers

A bit of an update, i got vag tacho 3.01 and despite the literature suggesting it will read the codes it doesnt on my dads 2002 2.5 A6 TDI.

The Part number that Vag Tacho connects to is: 4B0920981J KOMBI+WEGFAHRS. VD0 D11

When I connect to Audi A4/A6/A8 VW Immo Box(Megamos/Kostal) is says:

    Bitte Adress 17 eingeben
    Go Ahead

Then I read ecu, read pin and it returns:

Trying to Read Immobilizer PIN code...
    Please Wait
    Unknown immo box!

Any ideas on Vag Tacho's lack of ability - am i doing anything wrong?

(Next step is (if Vag Tacho cant do it) to get MPPS and / or Vag Commander)

    Help or comments appreciated

3.01 is not good choice for your car, try with super VAG.

Since its is an Diesel Engine try reading it from Engine ECU, if you can't get it from instrument cluster................

    Thanks Ash
