Thanks to the author for this excellent tutorial. I was able to successfully flash a dm500c that suddenly lost all the channels. I had to disable the firewall on the pc , in order for it to work though.

can i ask why you needed to switch off the firewall to flash your box mate just curious ,and did you remember to switch it back on afterwards as your computer will be wide open to threaths .
i love it when a dreambox comes together.
bought a new null modem cable... still nt working
ok you need to download a different version of dreamup from a different source and try that . if that doesnt work the only thing left that could be at fault is your desktop.
i love it when a dreambox comes together.
i downloaded all version.. tested but none of them show connect...
ya could be my desktop or the set top.. maybe i bring it to office tml to try for last option if not i will send the set back for repair.. it could be the set top problem but repair seen to be only option if everyting is not working ahah
btw
is dreamup the only option we can use if the dm is down and not able to boot?
actually this is my story i know the important for null modem cable so as i just got the set i want to make sure it can use so i go thur testing after plug and unplug by testing the null modem cable (it not working), offf the dm and power
plug back to tv to see if there any signal but no signal ... i suppose my dm500c die nt able to reboot... thus i know i img is demage..
may i know is ther anyway to prevent the img from demage???
just wonder how come After plug and unplug my dm500c die??

ya it a clone china make but package is same what u see online..
Flashwazd only works if there is a signal..and can reboot.. got IP
the problem is i dont have signal.. with no IP
i suppose right now in the market we are all using a clone as official set top is not longer release.
the set top is ok but i know i can't alway use telnet or ftp as those need to have signal or ip .. thus tht is y i need to test the 9pin plug to make sure can use after i got the set but somehow when i plug and unplug cause a desmage to the img...

harky the driver disk will have an option for vista or xp so you can install it on the xp computer by choosing the xp option . but i have a feeling if its a desktop and its xp it will have an rs232 port for a null modem cable .so you wont need the driver disk or the usb serial adaptor . again are you 100% sure your cable is null modem and you only have the option of com1 in dreamup ,i have never heard of any problem with this method other than the cable is not null modem . failing that check your computer ports and see if the serial port is open ,but i would say it is by defalt.

tested in my office using my office com (a xp) not working too..
ya i 100% sure it a cable is null modem as this is the 2nd cable i bought.. (somemore the shop keeper is pro than me as i told her i want a null cable , she can tell me this kind of cable usual only office use....etc. it a cross null cable.)
now only can suspect is the set 9pin is spoilted
Dreamup has no problem finding the box but after turning on the power on the box. it would be waiting on the box to respond but it never did. After changing the firewall settings to notify when a connection was blocked, every time I turned on the power on the dreambox for it to connect to Dreamup, the firewall would pop up asking if to allow the connection.
Hello everyone,
I got a clone DM800 2nd stage bootloader #75. I tried to flash it using the following method:
1- Updated the boot IP address using serial cable / null modem. OK
2- Used network cable to connect to box and bootloader to upload the new gemini 4.7. OK
3- rebooted only to get a dreaded message that says (NO CA).
Tried to use DreamUP to connect to the box but DreamUP never detects the box being switched on.
Any help?
Cheers
