I have followed your instructions and am trying to flash the dk v1.1 image. After a few seconds after pressing flash I get a message 'aborted by user' and the whole dream up closes down when I close the window. Any help?

if your dreambox is a dm500s you need to download an older version of dream up such as 1.3.2.1 if your box is a dm800 etc you will need to try 1.3.3.4 or 1.3.3.5

Is it better to download an older version of DreamUP? I'm using V1.3.3.6, but it seems that it doen't work. All I see is Connection Prepared, now switch...bla bla

if your only flashing a dm500 use an older version of dreamup ,newer versions are said to be universal this is not so in my experience .i found 1.3.3.5 would not flash a dm7020 where as 1.3.3.4 did ,the meassage aborted by user appears or it wont go to the flashing stage .if your box is a dm500hd or a dm800hd you will need to use the newer versions .you should be able to get an older version of dreamup in my signature area if you need it ,also you need to be aware that if your using a laptop with vista on it this can be an issue also.

    Hi All,

have trying to flash a dead 500c for a couple days without success. Just wanna be sure if the com port must be 1 and nothing else. Cos when right now the com assigned is either com3 or 4 but the lap top cant see the dmbox ?????

I went devilfish notes once and it says delete the com1 change the null to 1 instead. Am i right?

    Thks in advance.

    Ron

if your only using a null modem cable on a pc that has the correct 9 pin connection you would use com1 ,if your using a null modem cable and a usb to serial adaptor on a laptop (with no 9 pin connection) the com port will be com3 or com4 ,if your using an adaptor you need to install a driver .the driver to put it simply helps the computer to see the box thats attached to it ,when you buy the adaptor it can come with a disk containing the driver which you install on your computer and set it for your windows type (which is xp or vista ) if you get no disk you will have to go online and download a suitable driver. without the driver the box and computer wont communicate.
