You use which ever suits your needs. Most PCs only have one com port so select com1.

If you are only using a null modem cable then don't check the 'use network' box.

Hi when using dreamup there acouple of things you need to follow i have read through the guid on how to flash the box which is detailed with very good instructions.
the answer to the question is when using dreamup u can start by using com1 and untick use network.

The problem is not dreamup not working i'd the same problem before and it took me some time to flash my box. the problem is the type of computer your using the com ports are disabled which was the case with my pc and i didnt have enough knowledge on how to enable them, i tried several pcs but they all didnt help me as the com ports were all disabled untill when i used my old pc with com ports not disabled. Most the of the pcs these days come disabled you need to find some one with good pc skill to enable your com ports and use a latest version of dreamup.
Every thing should work out properly once you follow the instructions thanks.

There's not much else to say other than what's in the guide.

    Turn the box off
Connect the null modem cable to the dreambox and com1 on your PC
    Run Dreamup
    Click connect
    Turn on Dreambox

The progress bar will start to move on dreamup and it will upload the bootloader to the dreambox.

If nothing happens when you power on the box, you've either got a problem with the box or you are not using a null modem cable. A serial cable and an rs232 cable look the same but they are not a null modem cable.

Follow the instructions in this thread and you should be fine
    http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ead.php?t=1273
Trial version of smartftp will still work for a limited period, or you could use a free client like filezilla.
