Default Dm500 menu button does not work

    Hi

I have a dm500 and I am trying to access the menu but it doesn't open up.
when I click on the menu button it flashes on the box so it is being recognized.

any ideas? I don't really want to flash the box with a new image.

Might help us if we knew which image you have on the box, and which menu you are trying to open? Could be that R/C is locked

it has open pli. the actual menu itself. it has been locked by someone I don't know.
any chance of Redding that with out reflashing? if I have to I'm going to be using your commando 14.7 for my clone box. do you recommend using dream up to flash? I can't use flash pro because I can't set any network parameters.
if dream up then how do I know what com port to use

Many peeps on here have suggested an easy transition to upgrade from the OpenPLi gay enigma image to our rufty-tufty macho C14.7 image by FTP'ing our image to the /tmp folder 'as' a special .img name, and then doing 'Software Update' via the menu.

And I bet that's the menu tat's locked out for you, eh? If you can get access to the box via FTP, then /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/config might be your saviour! Txfr it to PC and edit with the FREEWARE Notepad++ (NOT windoze notepad nor wordpad!!!) and then carefully DELETE the line containing the text string pincode (it will have hex code at the end).

Then the IMPORTANT bit- don't reboot via the main menu, just Power Cycle. Literally, pull the mains supply to the box, then switch back on 10 secs later, with your fingers crossed.

If it does turn out to be a DreamUp exercise, then you really need a PC or lappie that has a real 9 pin RS232 Serial Port, plus a null-modem serial cable, of course. As for which COM port, well, Device Manager should tell you that. Just try COM1 for starters, and if DreamUp can't find a connection, repeat the process and try COM2 and so on. Remember to pull power on dm500 each attempt, and switch on when told to.

You're in for a helter-skelter ride with C14.7 - wooooo!!!! Don't forget to backup anything vital from your PLi image that you might need, ahem!

    Cheers- AL

I'm gonna need some instructions on this one. however I don't think the ftp will work as well because I don't know what network parameter will be. I assume that's how dcc works.

If you want to QUOTE me (or a section of what I said), then just press [Reply with quote] otherwise it's hard for other users to follow the convo...

At this enigmatic level, I'd go straight for DreamUp if I were you. And select [Flash] not [Flash Erase] !!

Good luck- and welcome to something completely different, and that's only 3 days old, once you've done the online update, following the simple instructions to get you over the FIRST one-time-only hurdle.

Despite 'nightly' builds, OpenPLi is still essentially stuck in a time-warp, sadly... Like May 2009

    Cheers- AL

did you buy the box plug and play ? I don't want to break any rules here but did you buy the box and all you had to do was connect it to your broadband to open pay channels ? if so then you hav a few options .
1/ you can use telnet (but you need the current password which I don't think you have )
2/ if you have tuxbox or tuxcom installed you can edit/delete the current password .
3/ you have to reflash the box .

if you've not got the current password and tuxbox/tuxcom is not installed then your only option is to reflash the box .
i love it when a dreambox comes together.
