You are going to need more then one software package unfortunately. Which cars in particular are you focusing on?

For Audi/VW you will be hard to beat Ross Tech VAG.COM.
I would also recommend getting yourself a copy of Autodata.
Theres lots of different ones out there but you cant do all cars with just 1. Good luck buddy

yes if you need to works with any car, you need a lot of diagnostic tool.

ELM is a lot of vehicles, but only motor electronics.
