R4 Issues - think this will be a quick answer...

...but after spending the last 2 days ripping my hair out trying to get an R4 card to work, i think i'm onto nothing!

I have a R4i Gold card (example pic shown below) which i have working using R4 Revolution for DS firmware (it says v1.32 on the menu screen) but its firmware v1.18 from the site on the card label (www.r4ids.com - firmware link: http://www.r4ids.com/download/software/ENGLISH.rar)

My daughter has just inherited her brother's DS Lite after a period of him not using it, so i tried to put some newer games onto the card for her, but cannot get very many to work at all. All i get is dual white screens.

I have had a good read at a load of articles online re: this and assumed that the firmware i am using was no longer supported and now kinda obsolete. I then set about finding a more up-to-date firmware that i could use on this card to get the newer games to work, but i cannot get ANY other firmware to work. All seem to just get stuck on the black LOADING screen.

I'm now accepting i've hit a bit of a brick wall with this. Some questions:

1. Is this card updateable in any way to play newer games?
2. Is this card a "clone", hence my problems upgrading to other firmwares? (A website i stumbled upon seemed to suggest that my card maybe a clone but not 100% sure)
3. If it can be upgraded, can someone direct me to where i can find a guide or tutorial on what i need to do?

I would appreciate any guidance or help you guys and gals can provide. This place has been a goldmine of info and help over the years, so i'm hoping i can get to the bottom of this with some help.

Hi there. Thanks for the response.

I've had this card for a few years now and no longer have the original packaging. The card i have is identical to the image i posted above and has the web address www.r4ids.com printed on its gold label (just like the image above). It doesn't appear to be the same as the one you posted the link to, but that might be because its a little old.

If i have to buy a new R4 card then its not an issue, just couldn't work out why i couldn't get my existing one to work. We're off on holiday this weekend and wanted to have it all sorted for my daughter to take with her, but it's unlikely to happen now if i have to order a new R4 card.

If anyone else can help out or advise, i'd appreciate it.
