Is this sat nav all internal memory? or SD card?
Make sure everything is on internal memory OR everything is on Memory card. Thats your navcore, map. and in a folder you should have your meta file, activator,

Right... which activator are you using?
I prefer to use Digital Kaos - Downloads - Easy activator easy activator, but there is a few out there.

check inside your map folder and see if the .dct file has been created.

when you boot up, it should work....

Only thing I can see why it might not is if the ttsystem file aint patched.. and the activator will do that.

once you have done this, let me know what bootloader you have on too.

i ve downloaded the easy activator one reccommended by paddy in the post above
yes it has generated a dct file for the maps
i have no memory card in so i guess it s all internal memory

    Default Tomtom

    Hey up big fella...
I have just done a TTGO520 tonight, I put everything on the internal memory.
Obviously there is only 512mb of memory here, so no big fancy europe map, but the UK&ROI 845.2645 @203mb works great. This has the lane guidance on too, which is cool.

I used navcore 8.410 here, RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting which works fine... no need to patch the TTSystem file, already done This is only 62Mb.

How I did it, and how I would do it is

    take your SD card out.

Make back up.. Then format your tomtom..

Make a new folder on your desktop, to put everything in. Call it TTstuff, or whatever

Put your navcore zip in, that you downloaded from the link I gave ya. right click and chose 'extract here'

It will give you a folder called 'xl_navcore_8.410'
Copy and paste everything inside this folder (not the folder itself) into the root of your tomtom (as you have formatted it, there will only be the root anyway)

locate the file 'system' and rename it to 'systemdunno'
This will stop your bootloader version from being changed.

Right, disconnect the device, let it boot up... this will create a new ttgo.bif file.

reconnect your TT520 and explore again.

Inside the root of your tomtom, make a new folder called 'tomtom' You will put all your stuff in here so it can be found easily.

In your folder on your desktop TTstuff put albert swarfegas easy activator zip in... extract here..
This file is here Digital Kaos - Downloads - Easy activator if you aint got it.

Put the Activator folder into your 'tomtom' folder on your tomtom.

Put your map folder Western_and_Central_Europe_845_2645 into' tomtom' folder.

Right.. you have everything... apart from meta...

Run the activator... it asks for your ID number or ttgo.bif file
Locate the file in your TT520 or use the one in your back up.

It wants your map... navigate to it inside 'tomtom' folder.

It wants your meta.txt file... chose download latest file.

    Click on 'Generate .dct file'

That should be it, just reboot, and it should find your map.

cheers mate got it workin ....i think i was goin wrong by just draggin the whole navicore folder to the root of my tomtom rather than copyin n pastein the indivual folders and files inside the navicore folder ,,,also something else i may have been doin previously (dont kno if it makes a difference??) is i didnt add the albert s activator to my tomtom i just did that on the desk top...but it still cracked the maps so i dont kno if that is important?? thanks for your help it s much appreciated...i was doin this more as a exercise how to do it for furture reference more than any thing else and becos i was interested in findin how to do it so that i can do mates etc.... can i be cheeky and ask a cple more questions .......................(1) does it matter wat navicore u pick as long as the maps are compatible? and ( 2 )this version only takes 2 letter s and a number when typin postcode is it possible to alter it so that it takes the full postcode and finds the destination or is theres navicores available i can download that doesthis .....again cheers to you and paddy for all your patience and help ,it s much appreciated

Ah, well done, yes as you say, you need to drag the contents of the navcore folder, NOT the folder itself.

As you have found out yourself, it can be cracked on the PC or in the tomtom. I just like to keep eveything together.

As regards navcore versions, I tend to search for ones that people say are compatible with a specific tomtom, but, aside form screen sizes, ie widescreen type, or square screen like a early TTone, I don't think (but don't quote me) it matters.

You need a file, confusingly called a zip folder, which is a zip file.

Digital Kaos - Downloads - Postcode file for Tomtom

Put the folder called Zip into the root. Extract it first.

unzip, the zip, and put the zip in TT..

Will this navcore and maps work on a TomTom One 3rd edition device?
