Default TMS28F512 - what chip to use in place? (Marelli IAW. 1AP 10)

    Hi Guys,

In the future I will have to tune a few Magneti Marelli IAW 1AP 10 ECU found in the Xsara VTS / 306 GTI6 2.0 16V.

Most of these ECUs come with a TMS28F512 some with an ST28F512, and I also have two which have been remapped previously, using an AT27C010.

I have a Willem GQ-4X to do the job, which can't do the TMS28F512, so I'll have to find a chip to replace this.

What kind of chip could replace this - preferably one which can be rewritten loads of times!?

    Thanks,

    Tibi

Well, I would need an other brand, like ST, as my Willem can't do the TMS

    gq4X work 100% with 28F512 any brand
you can use any 28F512 or 27C010 or 27C1001 , or 29F010 or 29F1001 or 27C512 you have the choice
please be sure your gq4X is up to date check newer soft .

on gq4X soft try with other 28F512 and check your adapter contact

You can't replace a 28Fxx by any 27cXX eprom the pinout is different.
You can use a 29F010 for 28F512 by connecting pin 2 and 3 togheter and program 29F 2x with the same file.

Be sure to use a proper 32p PLCC to 32pin DIP adapter to read/write the 28F512.

To replace 28F512 with 27C010 or 27C1001 (and 29Fxxx) are possible BUT NOT with 27C512

    @Kennfeld
I find it hard to believe you can flash the 1AP10 by OBD with a 29F010 flash.
The 29F010 has 5v programming voltage and the 28F512 12.5v.
I made this mistake myself 1 time and also blown an OLS300 emulator in the past.

And yes indeed 27c010 should also be working.
I should even be possible to program it in circuit but never tried.
