Very interesting article
Kenny Dalglish must arrange public apology from Luis Suarez to Patrice Evra
Patrick Barclay
17 Jan 2012
The dunderhead fringe of Liverpool's support don't half like an apology. They seemed to want Roy Hodgson to apologise for not being Kenny Dalglish and, when observers requested a fair chance for Hodgson, demanded we recant or face the wrath of the believers.
Yet, while only too keen to take, they appear oddly reluctant to give, certainly in the case of the wronged Patrice Evra, whom a Football Association commission found to have been subjected to a racially objectionable word by Luis Suarez during the League match against Manchester United at Anfield.
An eight-match ban reflected scorn for a flimsy - if sincere - defence based on "cultural differences" between Uruguay and England. But the attitude of the mob was unswerving. It becomes more depressingly understandable, however, as the days pass without contrition from the club's leadership, for which Ian Ayre should not be mistaken; the chief executive's admission of "damage" almost implied that Liverpool were the victims. Even the American owners emit deafening silence. For no one may gainsay King Kenny.
Dalglish is rightly revered for not only his footballing exploits but his personal qualities after Hillsborough. But he is, like the rest of us, fallible and that he has got this so wrong was obvious when he joined the players in their display of T-shirted solidarity with Suarez at Wigan.
A more mature posture is now necessary. There are only 11 days before United return to Anfield in the FA Cup and football as a whole is in danger of suffering, for there is speculation that Sir Alex Ferguson will drop his captain amid fear that an acrid atmosphere might take a more sinister turn.
A public apology from Suarez to Evra would change everything. Only Dalglish can arrange this triumph of decency over tribalism and he should do so now. You'll Never Walk Alone is a song, not a principle. I'm sorry but it's true.
i stopped reading that pile of shite after this paragraph
yet another british journalist "pro" hodgson reporting....
what has suarez got to do with hodgson?, why start off your article with anything to do with roy?
they dont seem to remember that hodgson made us relegation candidates in his first 6 months
he is an old pratt
so is the guy who wrote the article
On the International stage I think it fair to say Scholes has outshone any of either Lampard or Gerrard. Probably fair to say he was more effective in his short England career than either two have been over the course of many many wasted caps.
Gerrard "was" a fantastic player and the jewel in Liverpools crown for many years but when placed in a squad where players are of equal ability (like Lampard,Scholes,Beckham) he failed to impress.
I will not argue which is better player as they have differing strengths but Scholes has held down a starting position in many of the title winning sides built by SAF. Gerrard has been the best player in a top four and now top seven side.
Maybe Captain fantastic had a chance to go and prove he was capable of playing domestically at the very highest level but he bottled that opportunity when Chelsea came knocking on the door.
I think I know who has had the hugely better football career.
This is merely an opinion and should someone have a differing opinion and maybe a pile of useless stats to dissprove Gerrards lacklustre England displays then I will happily ignore it in favour of knowing that in actual fact he just did not cut it.
what has scholes done at international level to make you think he was better?
in my opinion he was crap and so was gerrard and so was lampard
england won nothing for 45 years.........so to say scholes was a good international player is abit laughable really!
you contradict yourself by saying scholes has had a better footballing career due to the trophies he's won, but then he didnt win nothing with england.....
so he cant be that great?
maybe he only won so much at united cus of the players he had around him?
that makes much more sense actually......
and gerrard is the much better player becuase he can play ANYWHERE on the pitch, he started at right back!
then centre mid
then attacking mid
then a striker
and on the right wing
scholes could never ever dream of doing that!
this is why gerrard is 10 times the player scholes will ever be!!
Read the posts properly dude I actually said Scholes played in title winning sides, this is the top level yes?
And by your summary Phil Jones will be and John oshea is/was the best player ever![]()
I feel to not respond to your mad rantings now I have some wind I'd rather piss into.![]()
Former Manchester United and Scotland defender Gordon McQueen is to undergo treatment after being diagnosed with cancer of the larynx.
The 59-year-old will have the treatment in Middlesbrough, close to his North Yorkshire home.
A statement released on behalf of McQueen said: "Gordon McQueen has been diagnosed with cancer of the larynx and will undergo treatment at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough."
Ayrshire-born McQueen made his name as a player with Leeds after signing for Don Revie's team from St Mirren as a teenager in 1972.
He was part of the famous Elland Road side of the 1970s which won the league title and reached the final of the European Cup before heading for Old Trafford, where he was to form a lasting friendship with Bryan Robson.
McQueen was a member of Robson's coaching staff during his spell at Middlesbrough and until recently, was employed by the Teessiders as a scout.
In addition, he has turned to television punditry with Sky Sports, for whom his daughter Hayley works as a presenter.
Robson himself had to have an operation to remove a cancerous tumour from his throat earlier this year.
Hope like Robbo he can get the all clear. All the best Gordon.
Sir Alex Ferguson in 1988
"This isn't just a job to me." "It's a mission. I am deadly serious about it. Some people would reckon too serious. We will get there, believe me. And when it happens, life will change for Liverpool and everyone else - dramatically."
Sir Alex Ferguson.

winning the champions league isnt the top level then?
suppose cantona wasnt world class going by that logic?
nice how you brushed past the fact that scholes can only and will only be ever to play in one place.....
why piss into the wind when you can use a toilet? strange thing to say really....
