Default British Gas To Offer Free Power On Saturdays

British Gas owner Centrica is considering offering free power to customers on Saturdays to encourage energy use when overall demand is low.

As part of a shake-up in the way energy is used and paid for, free energy tariffs could be offered to those who have a 'smart meter' installed in their homes.

British Gas has fitted over a million of the devices, which detect how much power is used on each day, in UK properties so far.

What you really need with an offer like that is a UPS that will last 6 days, charge it up Saturday use the power from the UPS all week. Anyone got 400 new car batteries they don't want and a building to store them in?

things is gaston UPS not that powerfull only desigined to give enough time, to read/reply to the post your on and shut pc down

i would be inclined to rob a battery powered forklift truck, or milkfloat and use that.

properbly best to use one of the electric motors as said rotary converter to get your 11 VAC 60 CPS for Emericans and 220 Volts 50 HZ for europe memnbers.

You can get inverters for 36 volts, so again higher the voltage the lower the currant, going to be a few forklifts going missing

I've dealt with UPS's for telephone exchanges in the past, and they aren't small. Hence my request for 400 car batteries and a spare building to put them in

yeah shit load of 12 volt 12 ah slabs, when i was about 15 ended up with a load from a telephone exchange, few even ended up as hardcore for moms greenhouse.

So as a rule max size car battery is 120AH you can get 200AH slab, rumor states you can get 1000,ah batterys (milkfloat/fork truck 450ah ish)

so to put that power back in you have took all week, is going to suck some g g's from the mains.

If everybody did it, there be dips in the mains and big lumps.

IF they're going to give it away 'free' it means they've been overcharging and making a massive profit on the backs of their customers - which they shouldn't have been. If they do I'll be running up so many electric heaters in my house in winter and air con units in summer they'll wish they'd never done it
