Default Can Technomate receivers work in Australia

Can Technomate receivers work in Australia on LyngSat (VAST)? Like the TM-6800HD?

My guess is they can, but any thoughts on pitfalls?

These are the channels I'd like to set up for my mother...

VAST on Optus C1 at 156.0?E - LyngSat

    Thanks

You are better off getting an STB from Oz.The TM's here seem to to have a limit.

according to the specs you should be ok and it should read the IR2 card aswell once set up. you might have to change the plug socket but the frequencies and transmission standards are the same as over here, regards mdt

Thanks very much for your feedback. MDT, could you please recommend a satellite receiver (technomate or another brand) that is easy to setup with a simple remote? Should I buy one with blind search? Are there any features I should look out for? Ideally I'd buy it in the U.K. before travelling out to see my mother..

Hi mate I took a tm-twin linux box and a dreambox 800hd down to nz with me, the tm-twin worked perfectly down there and once connected to the net I could even stream uk tv programs via the internet back to the box. I kind of liked being able to watch the one show ect each night. I think vast is the new regional progamming down in oz. So the card may be paired to the box and not usable in a 3rd party box. You could ask the question on austech.info thats the forum for down there.
