If you want to use multiboot, Flash Wizard Pro might work.

I'm not sure if you can multiboot from a hard disk, it's usually a memory card or usb flash drive but I'm sure someone will confirm soon.

I've edited the title of this thread because it's not very descriptive, a good title gets good results.

I have multiboot running on my DM600C so that I can run Nabilosat, EDG-Nemesis, CLI or the PLI.

    Taken from another forum.

    Installation

First boot from Flash and then copy the file
    enigma2-plugin-extensions-barryallen*.ipk
to /tmp with ftp (TCP/IP must be working already).

If you have an image in Flash that offers a Blue
Pannel Manual Addon Install, then you can use this
functionality to install the ipk file.

If not, then install Barry Allen by entering the
following commands in a Telnet session:

    cd /
    ipkg install /tmp/enigma2-plugin-extensions-barryallen*.ipk

Then restart enigma2 and the Barry Allen Plugin
shoudl show up under Games / Plugins.

In the Images installed by Barry Allen you don't have
to install the Barry Allen Plugin anymore.
The Barry Allen Plugin integrates himself into then
    automatically during the image extract.

And you can remove Barry Allen if you are booted
    from Flash:

    ipkg remove enigma2-plugin-extensions-barryallen

    3) Usage

There is now the enigma2 Plugin of Barry Allen included
under Games / Plugins of the enigma2 menu,
which offers the full functionality of Barry Allen.

For extracting of nfi images in Barry Allen copy the
image files to /MB_Images (normally a link to
    /media/hdd/MB_Images created during Barry Allen
    installation)

If there are Problems with image extraction or other tasks
with the enigma2 plugin try doing it in telnet:

    cd /media/ba
    ba.sh extract nameoftheimage

On the next reboot this new Image should be available
in the bootmanager for choosing to boot it and then it
can be customized and used as usual.

The Bootmanager now should remember the last booted
image and hence recordings from Deepstandby should work
    now.

Its been a couple of months since I installed this on my pc and than I took it off to install the Jade image and haven't bothered re-installing back on my box. Don't worry about it saying Enigma2 it will work fine but goolge for the latest version of the plugin as it has been updated since I installed it on my box.

It looks more comlicated than it is actually. Basically you ftp the plugin to your tmp directory on your dreambox and than use the install command to install the plugin. Once it is installed you ftp the image .nfi file to the MB_images directory and extract the image for installation. Once the image is installed you get an option to get select which image you want to boot with at startup. I would advise making a backup of your services & bouquets and keys and scce directory as you will need to copy it across to the new image.

I have DM600C with an internal hard drive and I have the Pli image loaded in the flash. If I was being honest I would say the multiboot is a waste time for me because I have a play with the other images but I always come back to the Pli image as it has the 14 day EPG and the 'now and next ' on the infobar. On my Dm500 satellite box the mutliboot could be really handy as the images on the satellite side have a lot of plugins which are useful for different providers.

Let say you have spent some time getting the image on your box working just the way you want with all the right services and plugins and it now works perfectly. I always promise myself that once I have an image working the way I want I will make a backup but somehow I never get round to it.

Lets say someone is going on about how good another image is and you think you might like to find out what they are talking about but you can't really be bothered with getting rid of your current image because of the time and effort you put in to get it working just right and also you know it will never be exactly the same again. With the multiboot plugin you can leave your current image as it is but you can load another image or images and have a play but still go back to your original image just by rebooting the box.

As @Curious has said keeping a good working image at all times is the advantage, it means you should be using the box as intended as quick as possible after you've been playing around with another image.

It seems to me a good option if you have managed to build your own image which is bound not work properly the first time, to leave it on the box to go back and play and develop at your leisure.

I've also got the sat tuner on the shelf somewhere and means that could be up and running quite quickly for a play with a sat image and easily be back to cable as quick. Does give easy development opportunities of both Sat and Cable with the same box without wasting time reflashing.

I'd be interested in what version is currently being used and anyone's experience of it. Thanx
