Default AUDI TT 2001 DASH SWAP AND KEY LEARNING

Hi guys, I have an audi tt 2001 with a Magnetti Marelli dash in it. My customer has swapped the dash in it due to it failing & obvioulsy now it wont restart. I thought I could just use my AVDI to learn the original key to the second hand cluster but it seems to fail.
I have got the pin from the second hand dash & both AVDI & vag tach are telling me the same pin, but I cant learn the key with VCDS or AVDI.
AVDI will do an immo off and the car will start but the immo light flashes, has anyone got any ideas on what I can do?
the original dash has failed and wont even fire up

you have many options, repair old dash with new MCU, program new transponder to new used dash or just remove immo LED and drive without immo...

i was hoping to learn a new key to the dash.......i didnt think there would be any problem learning the original key back to the second hand cluster. Is there any reason why this wouldnt work? I havenet actually tried a new transponder, I will tomorow.
I was looking for a way to pair the ecu to the cluster, but really dont see anything in the adaptions that resembles it

I havevt done either. Problem is I don't know the old pin and can't get it from the old dash.
How is the best way to change the vin? I don't think I've seen that in either Avdi or vcds

Read existing PIN from Engine ECU with AVDI. Read PIN from replacement cluster, then proceed with the following procedure with VCDS:

Immobilizer III Immobilizer Swapping (Instrument Cluster) - Ross-Tech Wiki

Another option is to copy the VIN, PIN and ImmoID from ECU to cluster, then program keys, but the above might be much easier for you.

that method needs the pin from the original cluster.......
I am just going to read the hc908 from the original cluster then write that duimp to the replacment via obd with avdi

although I have the pin from the ecu, would this be the same as the pin from mthe original cluster?

    and channel 50 isnt available

You can do this if the software version is same in old and new cluster.

Pin form ECu and cluster are always same , and in your case this means you have Immo 3 car and trying to adopt immo 2 cluster in it.If ch 50 in not available , that means you have Immo 2 cluster.
    This is not possible .

That is the answer for your problem.

no its an identicle cluster, same part number, same internals. The issue was not having the original dash's pin which I didnt realize was the same so didnt adpat it using that procedure properly.
for now I just did an immo off and will try to adapt the replacement dash if he ever comes back, or will just directly read the dump if that fails............
    thanks for your help everyone?

i think that will be your best option cos learning your old key will not work unless you can inlock it then you can relearn it just write the eeprom file
