    Default AC3 Sound Problem

    Hello,

Well I just did my 500C box work here in Brasil (if someone need help let me know), but the sound here is in AC3 and some channels dont have sound even using the SCART cable.

I know is possible to use the optical digital audio cable but I dont have any equipment that support this.

So I want to know if is possible to install something or emulate in the dreambox 500c to have the sound using SCART cable.

    Thanks

You need to enable AC3 downmix (or untick "Output AC3"). It depends on which image you have installed.

On DK 1.1 I think it's in Expert Setup, under aspect ratio & TV Format (PAL/NTSC)

Even with the option "Output AC3" checked there is no sound in all channels that use AC3 sound.

So anyone have any idea or maybe codec/plugin that need to be installed?

    Thanks

No, you need to uncheck Output AC3 - because you only want stereo for these channels, not AC3.

I don't have my 500c here to check exactly what option it is

In both cases dont work, same result no audio... some people say that the dreambox 500c dont support ac3 sound, just using the digital output but I want to know if is possible without use that.

    Thanks

Just had a look on the menus on my dreambox - looks as if it scales up (Puts stereo into an AC3 container), but doesn't downmix the track.

So it's either Digital Optical or nothing for those channels I'm afraid Most PCs have an optical input these days, you could always route the audio through the PC out via the Analogue outputs, but it's a lot easier to get a digital setup.
