how do you pause live tv with this image? i do remember it being a different button on the remote then the "Yellow" button in pvr mode in the info bar

ps is there a way to slow down the ir resend command with the green button? i always seem to miss the pvr controls.

    thanks

You can't pause live tv on a DM500, there's no hard disk.

i know that...i record over my network, to a shared area using cifs.
and playback the ts recordings using either vlc or using the dm500 for playback. recording works great on it, but as i stated i cant find the pause button....i remember i had it working at some stage....

it couldve been when i first got it and tried a couple of images on the box...it may have been one of them that had this function, i rememeber a temp file being created on my shared area and it was the "paused live tv"

The pause key is the yellow key, after bringing up the dvr controls.

I've never tried this or tested it so can't say if it will or will not work with this image. But the control is there.

I can't get VLC working at all on th DK image, is there anything I need to do...? (Had it working ok on DW image)

It's not to record or 'owt, just to watch it on the PC...

Nowt' works, whether I use the Web Panel link, or the short cut I've created for VLC to access it directly...?

    Dazza,
are you running windows xp? i had that problem untill i made an exception in the windows firewall, test it by turning it off and retrying, ive also had the dreaded traffic cone problem on the web front end, but it was normally solved by changing channels and switching back.

you can also try dreamview to watch tv, even though thats only a frontend to vlc ive had better luck with that then using vlc standalone.

ive also had problems if the channel im watching is weak, it seems fine on the tv but streamig it creates breaks in the audio and sometimes i get green artifacts on screen, in some cases vlc doesnt even detect a stream at all, i just retry and eventually it works for me.

    Yes mate, XP, sp3.

Firewall is config'd properly. (Not changed anything on the PC setup, just changed the 500c images.)

I'll test it on my Ubuntu setup and see what occurs....

Flash your DW backup to be 100% sure that it's an image problem.

Seems a plan I guess. Though I've tried it on the other 500c box, and tried connecting with VLC on Ubuntu (laptop) and it's the same....

I have it working with VLC on my PC and I havent needed to do anything special, fire up VLC, enter the ip address and boom. Sorry m8 but it#s hard unless you are actually sat in front of the PC to tinker about.

No probs mate. I know what that's like!

Anyway, I've reinstalled VLC, and I've got it working again now. Well, sort of anyway. If I use the VLC link in the web panel, it works. But my custom shortcut ("C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" "http://192.168.XXX.XXX:31339") doesn't want to play. It'll be something obvious I'm sure, but I've not checked yet!

I'm sure the DW started the streamts binary on a different port because it had a new zapstream binary to try and improve recording quality.

    Try port 31338.

    EDIT:

Oh, and you don't need to star(***) out your ip address, it's a local address confined within your home network, no-one can get to it simply by knowing it. We'd need to know your main router ip address to access it.

First off let me say a big thank you to all involved in developing the image much appreciated. i only changed over from dw2.1 as i had a strange freezing problem with some channels (sky sports 1 + others) every time there was a game on i had change over to my dbox from my bedroom . shame its not sorted, that problem must just be a dodgy box, but i do like the image so far. going to have a look at how to keep it connected to internet and pc. im interested in watching films from the pc cutting out the need to burn discs so hoping that's not going to be to complicated to understand once again thanks to all involved for there hard work in developing this image ashbash.
