As stated earlier in this thread I am highly impressed with this image,

one question that I would like some guidance on...when I select backup image it runs the script and states that a backup has been created and stored in .tmp folder. When I ftp to the box and open the .tmp folder there are 3 files (mmi.socket, hotplug.socket, camd.socket) and no sign of the backed up image. Am i looking inthe wrong location or am I doing something wrong.

Are you powering the box off before looking in the /tmp folder? /tmp is a temporary memory location on the box, all contents are lost when the box is powered off. The files you see have been created on startup.

In fact, those files don't look familiar for the DK image, are you using the DK image?

    Thanks for the info Devilfish.
I had been powering the box off and then plugging it into my iMac that is in another room.
I am using the DK image and installed it via Telnet following your step by step guide.

That's because they will have had a german cables.xml file.

This image is fully UK and Ireland capable, ntl, tw, c&w, mmds, chorus, etc...everything. And will work on satellite as well.
