    Default ethernet connection essential?

Is the Ethernet connection essential to connect to the internet on my skybox? or will it work fine with the wifi dongle??

I take it your neighbour doesn't know then. You should be ok as long as signal is strong enough. You just won't be able to record to usb stick as usb slot will be running the wifi dongle

You should be fine using wi fi then as long as you have a strong signal from your neighbour

It's not essential no, using ethernet certainly makes things easier though by freeing up the USB port at the front.
I have a box in my bedroom using the wifi dongle and it's a pain when i install new channel lists etc, but that's life.
F3 box ran terrible on WIFI though, F3S runs sweet.
