Follow this guys post....Works a treat...
http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ftware-282932/
tryed them all still getting that same message could it be the lead?
Go to device manager and set com port like this. Works everytime now for me. Win7 x64
Bits Per Sec = 115200
Data bits = 8
Parity = None
Stop bits = 1
Flow Control = Xon/Xoff
Connect COM-NULL lead to PC-STB and Power lead in STB powered Off.
Now go to eeprom upgrade tool folder, and run Config file as admin FIRST (this is important)
Then load up the eeprom upgrade program. Now set COM Port Parity to EVEN (although its set to none in Dev Manager, it works for some reason) and find-select your upgrade or dump.
Once you press next you will get Synching STB and error - Please Reset Target -....This is normal...It happens every-time I use it and it still works.
Now wait about 5 secs here turn on your STB from the switch on the back of it, or if its a different box power on the plug. Wait for about 10 secs and the Synching STB will say DONE. Now wait for about 10 more secs and it will load your abs fie and ask do you want to run it-permit it...........Now it will say downloading upgrade or Dumping depending on what you selected.....
BTW which lead are you talking about, the NULL female to female?
EDIT: This is the only one that worked for me. DK Member DW190 kindly upped it yesterday after testing it on an F3. It brought my2 dead boxes back to life first go.
I think your current eeprom tool has no config file...?
PS....... MAKE SURE COM 1 IS FREE and or TRY COM 2-3 etc instead

getting same thing going to try again when the new lead comes
Tryed everything if even a new wire !!! is there anything else i can do or is the box completely dead
What OS etc and are you using a true com port? I wouldnt say its dead yet mate. I know the frustration, but ya gotta exhaust every option. Even ones not suggested on here. Mines worked on Win 7 x64 with true com port..............
