Dreambox 500c cant get channels

Hi everyone I found my old cable box lying about so thought I would mess about with it I put a channel list on via dreamboxedit it sent ok and the channels r on the box ok but says service not available on every channel I am connected via my Ethernet cable to my router do i still need a feed connected to the box as I assumed these channels were threw a Internet connection only

What you are alluding to is CS which is not allowed to be talked about on this site.
You will only get a limited number of FTA channels via the cable feed to your house, you will get more channels via a rooftop aerial.
Free cable as we knew it has been dead for a few years now, switch to a satellite setup and you will get more.

I wasn't wanting card sharing but it dnt matter giving my box away
