I am looking for a simple fix that won't cost much money...
Some years ago, maybe 2, I flushed the cooling system on my 2.5 V6. The heaters never got to full heat, but were working well enough. Only recently I found out you have to prime the heater matrix after a flush.
In early december I suddenly lost all but a trickle of heat from the blowers. On the previous journey they were fine. The engine temp also failed to reach the normal operating temp.
So working on a possible thermostat issue, I replaced it.
The engine temp is now between 92-95 degrees, but still no heat from the blowers.
I have since flushed the system again & had a play with the bypass valve at the back of the engine. The valve was replaced less than 4 years ago.
During the flush I disconnected the top & bottom heater matrix hose from the valve & put the hose pipe to both ends. The Top hose wouldn't accept any water & the bottom hose just back filled the rest of the cooling system. No water flowed through the matrix. About a week ago I had primed the matrix so a blockage now seems a bit weird.
At this point I fear that the heater matrix is blocked. But I'm hoping someone here can point me to a control valve inside the car. Or a way to unblock the matrix without removing it.
If I get time I'll send my snake cam down the pipe to see what's going on inside, but right now I just need a miracle.
The engine temp is stable, the cooling system is not losing any water & the car runs like ben johnson on speed. So I'm not worried about a head gasket problem.
