As per my original post and questions:

I have a Labtool 48 (not xp or uxp) and Xeltek Superpro L+

Can I make use of these? can these above be used instead/for any of the programmers you guys recommended?

    Cheers

Hi Adam, No, no development as yet I'm afraid. Speaking to someone abroad who has quite a few products and may even become an agent if it is viable.

Will let you know on progress, as I still need to establish all the products I need/looking for.

    Cheers

Just had my hot air soldering station delivered today to help with desoldering. Im pretty useless at soldering! And thought this may help. I have a few old circuit boards to practice on. which i keep cooking. Bit worried about when i attempt the real thing!
From the line of business you was in you are probably pretty good at this. Any tips would be great if you have some.

    Cheers sarge

Adam you sound like a competent man, I'm sure you will without doubt, manage. The thing with Hot Air units are you have to find the perfect balance between temperature and air, just enough to melt the solder and not too much temp to burn the board, watch for surrounding components, and watch your fingers!
I would say start at lowest temperatures and work your way up from there, noting the melting points. As you are already doing, it is always best to get started on scrap boards first, will give you confidence.

Try to practice on same/similar sized chips that you will encountering.
Yes I used this on mobile phone repairs as you can imagine its pretty hard to repair a mobile using a soldering iron.

Don't worry, you'll be fine mate!.

Tip : there are even videos on Youtube to show you how to use them

    Cheers

i also use star diagnosis at our workshop, and i have no problems with that. i have the developer mode, but with it i cannot access the internal data in for example instrument cluster, for example to change odometer reading, unlock EIS or engine ecu. there are a lot of things you cant do with star diagnosis. i want to purchase eeprom programator which can read/write chips in mercedes vehicles. so i need a recommendation from anyone who has tested and working solution. thanks!

    which model u bought?

1 big tip for u is dont put the air above 5 (anything above this can cause other components especially smd's) to be blown off

cant really help anymore till i know which 1 u have
iv had my 803a for 5 years and its now packed in
so bought a newer 1 best 858d which is digital display readout for the temp

i wouldnt be without my rework station m8 like i said been using 1 for about 5yrs now.
i used to be a tv engineer b4 going into tuning cars and diagnostics etc

i mostly now repair xbox360's rrod
