Default softmodded wii can I remove channels

Hi, I bought a second hand wii off ebay, wii in good nick but when it arrived I noticed that homebrew channel is installed plus a few more standard channels like bbciplayer etcetc... but there is not the sd card inside, nor an usb pen/drive. So my idea would be to rehack the wii with modmii, but before doing that can I format the wii? -I suppose no- so can I remove/delete the wii channels like bbciplayer before softmodding again? How do I delete a channel?

My problem is that I don't really trust what has been done to the wii- my impression is that it has been installed only the homebrewchannel and nothing else... there is no sign of usb loaders channels on the wii menu nor neogamma nor any other way to launch a game on the wii..... and I am not going to connect my hdd in case priiloader has not been installed...

I have sofmodded quite a few wii consoles for friends and family but always from a "virgin" console, am I right on rehack the wii first and after delete the channels that I don't want on it? If correct, how do you safely delete a channel?
    Many thanks for your help

Channels are stored in Wii Options/Channels or in saved games but there are some that aren't stored that are no longer usable because they have been disconnected by Nintendo like Weather Channel and News Channel, so I just drag these to the right.

You can erase channels or save them to an SD card.

    What version is it?

I softmodded a 4.2E last weekend I did a system update and used LetterBomb everything went smoothly, I would say that's your best option.

Hi, thank you as always for your reply, the wii is on 4.3e. Did I understand well that erasing a channel block will not brick the wii?

Erasing a channel won't brick your Wii.

You can always put the channel back via the shopping channel.
