    Default 500s help!!

    ok, im new to this.

I have a 500c and know about the cable side of things, but a friend of mine has just moved to a block where they have a communal sat dish on the roof. He wants to get a dreambox, but whats the procedure? meaning, with the cable version you just scan and it finds the channels, i.e. ss1, films etc.

is it the same with the sat version? will he get the channels i just mentioned without a card?

    someone help if u can!

    cheers.

    p.s. im in london, uk.

He will get all the FTA channels from wherever the dish pointing towrds which is probably S*y. He will need to do a scan on satellite 28.2E to get the channels.

With sky, you will only get what you pay for. If you don't pay them anything, you'll only get free-to-air channels.

You need to subscribe to a package with Sky before you can view any of their channels.

I expect that if you have never had anything other than Sky box it could be difficult figuring out what belongs to Sky and what does not belong to Sky as far as channels are concerned.

    oh ok.

i thought it would be the same deal as if you had a 500c with VM.

its not very good then is it!!!

    <--vitesse349 added 1 Minutes and 30 Seconds later...-->

    ok..

so if he had the basic s*y package, would the 500s enable him to get the other channels such as ss1 and movies etc?

sorry if this seems stupid, but im only familar with the cable version.

I love it when all of us with a motorised satellite setup rave on about how fantastic it all is than the noobs come along and ask can you get 'S*y and the answer is NO!' so they than wonder whats the bloody point of having a satellite setup.

No m8 think of what you are getting on cable at the moment with Vermin(including the S*y channels) and multiply that at least half a dozen times and thats what you get with sat.

Sorry forgot the best and that is you don't pay subs to anyone.
