FG TECH GALLETTO V53 QUESTION

In the past i had galletto 1260 and now i have the v53.
I am little confused with the cables.
The tool has 2 cables with a lot of coloured little cables and a white plug (12v red and black cable)
I do not understand the use of this plug.
Example--> I want to read one edc17 ecu of VW tdi.I will set the cables and i will give external power to the fg galletto device.I must give power to white plug too or not?
