Default How to use a TP-LINK for DM500s? Help needed

    Hi guys,

Im trying to use a Tp Link model no: tl wr710n to run my DM500s. I have set it up in client mode and it is connected to my main router which is down stairs. after configuration I plugged the tp link into the mains (wall socket) and from the Lan port on the link to the ethernet socket on the dm500. Issue is DCC cant pick up the IP address. so I cant connect with the dm500.

Is there any way I can get the two to talk. Any help/Info is greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    phat1

I'm not too clued up on this subject but have you allowed your box to connect to your router in the router settings

you need to log in to your router (if you google your routers name followed by login you should get plenty of hits) its generally 192.168.1.1 enter this in your browser and you should get up your router settings

you need the mac address of your box
in the router settings go into wireless settings
select add new and in the mac box add your mac address and save

EDIT : but I'm not sure if you still need to connect wirelessly using those adaptors as I have had no experience with them

I take it your on about the TP Link router, If so I can only add the broadband provider, which has its own MAC address. I seen a post by a member who used a TP Link with gargoyle, firmware, I sent him a message. I also have a spare router if I cant do it this way I'll try and bridge the two routers, but I tried and was unsuccessful with this already so I thought the TP Link would work.

yes thats correct, the only way I get all 3 lines in DCC to connect is when I have the tp link plugged into the mains. One ethernet cable goes from the dreambok to the wan/lan port on the tp, one ethernet cable from my lap top to the other Lan port on the tp link. I can then talk to the box but I want it to connect to the internet by itself.

I tried to connect to the Internet with my PS3 using the tp link and it would not connect either.

You need to configure the 710 as a client of the main router ,which you seem to have done.

Have you set up the dm500 as dhcp ?
I could never get DHCP to work properly with some of the TP-Link stuff so you may have to set the network settings manually in the dm500 .
    See if that works

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to achieve, if it is internet feed to two remote dream's (ie. 2 boxes that are not sat next to your main router) a wireless bridge with dd-wrt software on your two client routers will work well. Your wr 710 is not compatible. I use a couple of ex virgin d-link dir 615 routers, ?1 each sourced from boot sales.
