Default Possible faulty tuner? Help please

Hi guys, I've had my Skybox f5s close to three months now and for the first month it worked perfectly until one day I started to get the blue 'no signal' sign on a lot of channels including FTA This has been an odd problem as it will not work for most of the day but if the box is left on for a while all the channels will start working. I've tried multiple channel list updates throughout the 2 months or so that I have been getting this problem, I have got AJs latest list installed. The latest firmware is installed. It is the only box connected to my dish and I also tried the box at friends house and I still got the same problem. I've tried my old actual sky on my connection and everything seemed fine.

It's not all channels that have got the no signal problem like Skysports 2 will be working, BT sports HD 1&2 will be working not the SD,Channel 5 will not be working. Basically there a lot that aren't working.

I'm thinking its probably a faulty tuner on the box, does anyone know or have any tutorials on how to replace this?

If it isn't a faulty tuner, I would be very grateful if anyone could share some info on how to to sort this as its been happening for far too long?

    Thank you in advance

    Jay

When was the last time you upgraded your channel list?

Make sure you try a new channel table first!!
There have been alot of changes recently.
SD channels are replacing the HD channels

How many boxes have you got connected to the dish?
Other boxes will draw the signal as well.
If it still occurs, then contact the supplier and explain the situation and see whether they can test the box for you

say you have tested the feed and tested the box at a friends house and the problem still occurs
then refer to that you have updated the list as well

remember to remove any cccam or newcamd lines before returning the box
remove the lines, then reboot the box, make sure its disappeared, perform a factory reset to which clears out all the data

Thing to check make sure the F-connector at the back has not worked it self loose also if this is not a problem try another power supply for your box.

Thank you guys for the replies, I've got AJs latest list installed ( 1/07/14). The lnb connection does not seem loose and also I've only got one box connected up to my dish so no other reciever is affecting the signal. What seems odd to me is that if the box is left on for a few hours all the channels will start working but if the box is turned off then most the channels
    Will stop working again.

Hope someone can share some info on this or if you have a fix would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Again

    Jay

Honestly the best thing you can do is put the F5S in the bin and get a better receiver. Enigma 2 ideally but anything is better.

if its a clone and bad build could be a dry joint hot/cold running issue.

So I've noticed that it is the H/Horizontal channels that are not working (showing no signal) and the V/Vertical channels are working. Does anyone know why this is and how I can sort mine out?

    Thanks

Sounds like LNB is knackered, or dish has took a hit, or cable has had it. Check f-connectors to make sure no outer strand(s) is touching inner core, look very close. Failing that I'd go with dry joints bit like light of death on Xbox/PS3 but the other way round in this case.

you can get a inline cable with a diode in it which is about 5 inches long and connects between the sky cable and the box. What is happening is the lnb is not switching over from vertical to horizontal which is 2 different voltages ie horizontal runs about 5 volts and vertical runs about 7 volts. you can get them of ebay for about ?5 and only take 1 minute to put in place. I no this because I had the same problem. One end of the inline cable screws to the sky cable and the other end connects to the box.

Item number on ebay for the cable is 111394475558.
