Disable swirl flaps on touareg 3.0

Is this possible to write out dtc code for only swirl flap error code? Customer had manifolds fitted 2 years ago and now have become faulty again due to wear on the plastic connecting rods, so thought I'd ask if removal via software was possible? as he doesn't want to spend another 700 pounds on it to go faulty again in another couple of years thanks.
