    Default FIRMWARE UPDATE

    Hello

After a bit of help. Trying to reset my firmware on my SKYBOX F3 as done channel update list and now stuck on load.

I have downloaded the skybox upgrade tool and the .abs file.

    I turn off the skybox

plug in the rs232 cable and plug it in to my laptop (via USB)

load up the application from the download tool. Cange the port to COM3, if i use another port i get serial port is failed try again.

tick the bootloader box and press next

now it says at the top of the box synchronizing STBs done please reset target. and at the bottom it says "set stb memory error, click back to try again"

Any ideas what Im doing wrong of it the box is proper dead

    Thanks

cant do reset via rs232 with usb....EVA!!!
you need data connectors at both ends
it will keep saying mem error untill u use rs232
if laptop doesnt have rs232 data socket then try an old pc they have them
it will then work in 30 seconds definatley

As a rule unless you box absolutely requires a firmware update, don't bother!
